Imagine a special film that loves the dark, just like a night owl! 800T is perfect for taking pictures when there's not much light, like indoors at night, in a dimly lit room, or outside after the sun goes down. It's super good at catching all the colors and details even in low light, and it gives your photos a cool, dreamy look, especially around streetlights or neon signs!
800T, specifically referring to Cinestill 800T (a remjet-removed Kodak Vision3 500T 5219 tungsten-balanced motion picture film), is a high-speed, tungsten-balanced color negative film adapted for still photography. Its nominal ISO of 800 makes it an exceptional performer in low-light conditions, particularly under artificial tungsten lighting where it yields accurate color rendition without filtration. When shot in daylight without an 85B filter, it produces a characteristic cool, blue-green cast, which can be creatively utilized. The defining feature, inherited from its motion picture origin and the remjet removal for C-41 processing, is the prominent halation effect. This manifests as a red/orange glow around strong light sources, adding a distinct, often desired, cinematic ambiance. Despite its high speed, 800T maintains surprisingly fine grain and good sharpness, along with impressive dynamic range, making it highly versatile for challenging lighting scenarios. It is a favored film for night photography, street photography, indoor events, and moody portraiture where its unique aesthetic and low-light capabilities shine.
